IT’S 21 years old and is a key event in raising biking awareness... so it’s time to put Monday, June 18 in your diary.

Ride to Work Day is key

The annual Ride to Work Day sees motorcycle and scooter riders around the UK commute to work to demonstrate to the general public that bikes are a viable transport solution.

There are numerous ways to get involved – check out www.ridetoworkday.co.uk and join the Ride to Work Day community on Facebook and Twitter.

There will also be events taking place across the country at local dealerships, clothing stores and cafes – go to the website to find your nearest event. Special offers, biker breakfasts, rideouts and after work barbecues are just some of the other activities taking place both on the weekend before and on Ride to Work Day itself.

Private companies and workplaces will also be showing their support for the day with some offering Have a Go events for non-riders or Lunch & Learn talks or demonstrations promoting the economy and freedom of biking. If your workplace or local dealership would like to hold an event, email info@ridetoworkday.co.uk with the details.

What do you think of the new breed of cheaper, more economical bikes? (e.g. Honda's CB500)

Great - we need more affordable everyday bikes
I don't ride a bike to care about mpg
I prefer a bike with more power and kerb appeal
Would like to see all manufacturers with bigger capacity machines under £5k
There should be more development going into much higher mpg machines - 200mpg+ please!
