The weather has finally started to pick up folks, so ditch those heavy cumbersome layers. Cast off the thermals and prepare to swelter on your motor-sickles until December. With a dazzling array of summer clobber to choose from we thought we’d show you some of our favourites for 2010.

2. Spyke MX80 Jacket: £189.99

This good looking jacket is the MX80 from Spyke. It’s a waterproof high-tech short sports jacket, with a Teflon-treated outer, waterproof, breathable interior membrane and removable interior thermal padding. It also has ventilated sleeves and front panels, (which are adjustable with a zip fastener). 3. Alpinestars Stella Breeze: RRP £159.95

The Stella Breeze Air-Flo Jacket boasts a clean retro design. It’s perfect for summer but has a non-water absorbing mesh construction and 600 Denier poly fabric outer shell for abrasion resistance, with multiple stitched main seam construction for maximum tear resistance. The jacket is designed, shaped and constructed with a sporty fit specifically for women riders. It’s highly ventilated for maximum airflow, has adjustable tabs on the waist and sleeves and pre curved sleeves for riding comfort. According to the sales bumph, 'The Verona Air is a mid-length, warm weather commuting jacket featuring a sports bike cut, premium protection and a durable shell in a sleek, understated design'. The jacket has a durable, ventilated construction with dual 450D polyester outer shell, mesh inserts and double PU coating. The Verona has removable CE certified Bio Armor elbow and shoulder protectors. Alpinestars Bionic chest pads and CE certified RC back protector are available as optional accessories. 5. Weise Laguna jacket: £129.99

This textile sport jacket from Weise has a tough 600 Denier outer and ISOTEX® waterproof, windproof and breathable drop lining. It has a detachable 120g thermal quilted lining and CE approved armour to the shoulders, elbows and back. Adjustable Velcro straps to cuffs, upper arms and base of jacket, 3M reflective panels to the shoulders, zipped venting to the chest, back and lower arms. 6. Corazzo Max Jacket: RRP £110.00

Corazzo may not be a name that’s familiar to bike riders but the American brand has been selling stylish jackets to scooter riders for a few years now. The new Max Jacket combines a close fitting jacket with both style and high water resistance, and features a very sporty mandarin collar. The jacket is constructed from a waterproof four-way stretch nylon fabric called PacTech®, it has superior breathability, and a soft fleece lining that is very comfortable. www.ve-uk.com

7. Frank Thomas XTI II Mesh: RRP £99.99

This new Frank Thomas textile jacket has been designed using a combination of abrasion resistant Hypertec fabric and airflow mesh. Hypertec 'Is a technically advanced high performance breathable material, designed to maximise abrasion resistance without compromising rider comfort'. The jacket includes a handy waterproof over jacket neatly stored in a back pocket and boasts CE approved Arma-Flex shock protection at the shoulders and elbows – with the extra facility to fit a YF back protector. 8. Frank Thomas Spirit Jacket: RRP £99.99

This lightweight textile jacket again uses Hypertec. It also has CE approved Arma-Flex shock protection at the shoulders and elbows. The Aquapore Advanced waterproof and breathable membrane lining allows perspiration to transpire through but won’t allow water in so provides waterproof protection. For increased rider comfort there is an upper chest and lower back ventilation system for manageable airflow. This is Bering's new for 2010 Squadra summer textile jacket. The Squadra offers great value for money with a retail price of less than £85. It comes with CE protection on shoulders and elbows, foam back protection, reflective stripes, mesh lining, internal and external pockets, and is claimed to be waterproof. www.bering.fr

10. Oxford Bone Dry: RRP £69.99

Oxford's Bone Dry range is an affordable and stylish range of waterproof goodies that includes jackets, trousers, gloves and boots. The Bone Dry jacket is an all-season jacket with a removable thermal liner for summer use. As the name suggests, it claims to be waterproof, has CE armour in arms and shoulders and comes in a variety of colours including black/grey, black/red, black/blue and black/pink. www.oxprod.com
